Non-linear Finite Element Analysis

The structures behaviour in real environment is often non-linear due to non-linear material behaviour, contact phenomena or time/temperature dependent properties.  This section is dedicated to finite element simulation of structures submitted to time-dependent loadings with non-linear behaviour.

Non-linear analysis of pressurised seal.

Different types of non-linearities can be taken into account :

  • non-linear material mechanical behaviour laws :
      • non-linear elasticity
      • elasto-plasticity
      • visco-elasticity and visco-plasticity
      • hyper-elasticity
      • creep
      • user defined behaviour models
      • ...

  • geometrical non-linearities :
      • contact between deformable bodies with relative small deflection
      • contact with moderate relative deflection
      • 3D contact with moderate deflection
      • 2D contact with large relative deflections

Displacement, plastic stress and contact stress aimation of e-clips

        Non-linear analysis of DIN6799 e-clips.

      • 3D contact with large relative deflections along slide-lines
      • 3D contact with large relative deflections
      • user defined contact elements
      • ...
  • large displacements, large rotations and large strains
  • non-linear buckling and post-buckling
  • ...
