This new hospital, planned to be operational in the summer of 2018, is inspired on the works of René Magritte. It seemingly levitates above the landscape and is dominated by nature and light. As for engineering, a clear choice has been made to use sustainable and energy saving measures, without compromising on the high comfort requirements.
Since footbridges can be prone to footfall excitation, D2S International was requested to perform a vibration study on the spiralling walkway. The aim of the study was to characterize the dynamic behaviour of the walkway, and to evaluate its comfort class.
